Do you want to combine technology, R&D and sustainability in a role where you can truly make a difference? Sunpine is now recruiting a Technical Director to play a key role in our growth journey. Here, you will lead the technical development that helps shape the fuel solutions of the future.
The world urgently needs to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels in favour of more sustainable alternatives. This is the foundation of Sunpine’s business. Sunpine is the world’s largest producer of Raw tall diesel, an important part of tomorrow’s more sustainable energy mix.
We are currently in an intensive development phase where innovation, sustainable growth, high production efficiency and continued environmental leadership go hand in hand. As part of this expansion, we are now seeking a Technical Director with the mandate to lead and further develop our technical department.
As Technical Director, you will be responsible for ensuring Sunpine’s technical expertise and ongoing development in plant, process, product and raw materials. You will lead the technical department with full responsibility for operations, budget and personnel. You will report to the CEO and be part of Sunpine’s executive management team.
Process development and product development are central aspects of the role, which also includes R&D work. You will initiate and manage R&D projects and represent Sunpine in external networks to monitor developments in refining, crude tall oil and biofuels.
We are looking for someone who, with commitment, business acumen and strong leadership, wants to lead a technical department in a growth industry with high demand. You hold a master’s in engineering (chemistry or technology) and have leadership experience from the industrial sector. Experience of projects in process, plant or product development is an advantage.
We believe you are confident in your leadership and can engage and inspire others to succeed in a collaborative way. You are strategic, have a holistic perspective and demonstrate sound judgement in both your work and leadership. In addition, you are resilient, analytical and possess strong problem-solving skills. We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in future technologies and sustainability, and who is fluent in both Swedish and English, spoken and written.
The position requires close collaboration with other functions in the company. We therefore value that you enjoy building and developing relationships, both internally and externally.
Sunpine operates in an international, modern and process-oriented environment. Here, you will have considerable scope to make an impact at a workplace with its sights firmly set on the future. You will be part of a value-driven company where sustainability is a shared driving force – and where you will be surrounded by a dedicated and skilled team.
We look forward to receiving your application no later than 15 September 2025.

Sunpine – Fueling a better future
Sunpine operates the world’s first – and largest – production facility for Raw tall diesel, a renewable feedstock for biofuels produced from by-products of the pulp and paper industry. With a very high carbon reduction value and a feedstock that does not compete with global food production, Sunpine’s Raw tall diesel is an essential part of the future energy mix. From the same feedstock – crude tall oil – we also produce large volumes of resin, turpentine, alpha-pinene and bio-oil, which are delivered to customers worldwide. Our production is nearly fossil-free.
SunPine AB is based in Piteå and is owned by Preem, Sveaskog, Södra and Lawter. We are 83 employees and generated net sales of approximately SEK 2.7 billion in 2024.
